| Facing South-East at King and Gaukel on a 1930's Winter night. |
Unlike our last couple posts, this picture isn't attached to a story (at least as far as we know). We just thought it was a beautiful photo of downtown Kitchener on a quiet winter night.
The photo is from the 1930's, and is looking south-east along King St. from the corner of King St. W. and Gaukel St. The yellow glow of Christmas decorations reflecting off of the empty powdered streets seems to capture the definition of a crisp and silent winter night. We'd be lying of course if we didn't admit that it also fills us with a small amount of pride. Of all the family businesses pictured above, Budds is the only one that is still here, owned by the same family that started it.
If you have any photos from our Downtown's past or present, we'd love to see them (and share them, if you're willing). Drop us a line at Admin@BuddsStoryhouse.com.
